Obituary of Najma Razaq

We are sad to announce the passing of Respected Najma Razaq Sahiba, wife of Respected Abdul Razaq Qureshi Sahib, of Kitchener Jamā‘at, who passed away on September 21, 2024 at the age of 81 years.

By the grace of Allah, Respected Najma Razaq Sahiba was a Mūṣiya and a devoted Ahmadi. Respected Najma Razaq Sahiba was the daughter of the renowned Jama`at poet, late Syed Mohammad Mian Saleem Shahjahanpuri Sahib, the adopted son of Hafiz Mukhtar Ahmed Shahjahanpuri (ra), a companion of the Promised Messiah (as).

 

She held profound love and respect for Khilafat. She was steadfast in her observance of daily prayers, regular in her Chanda contributions, and had a deep love for reciting and teaching the Holy Qur’an. During her time in Karachi, Pakistan, she taught the Holy Qur’an to over 50 children in her neighborhood, including her household help. Before moving to Canada, she served as Ṣadr Lajna and Secretary Ḍiyāfat in Karachi Pakistan. Her passion for Tabligh was evident in the numerous Jalsa Seeratun Nabi (sa) events she organized, where many non-Ahmadi women attended and provided positive feedback. She instilled in her children the same love and dedication to Jama`at work and a strong habit of observing the five daily prayers. She was loved and respected by fellow Lajna members for her humility, kindness, and selfless nature.

 

Najma Razaq Sahiba held an MA in both Urdu and English and deeply instilled in her children the value and desire for higher education. She also inherited a deep love for Urdu poetry from her father. Her poetry anthology, Afkar-e-Najma, is a beautiful collection of poems covering a wide range of topics.
