Dear Dadi,
As we all wish immortality, we all have to leave someday, and go back to Allah. This world is temporary, and sooner or later, we will all have to pass away. Through the sadness, I understand why, and that reassurance keeps my resolve alive.
Dadi, you were a remarkable woman, touching the hearts of many throughout your life. Especially my dad, who is a hardworking, determined, and supportive father. He would never leave us behind, and that’s all because of : you, Dadi.
As I close my tribute, I would like to say that her warmth and wisdom will fill my heart, even as she has passed. Dadi, may you be protected by Allah in this world, and the world to come.

Dear Nano,
Although I didn’t have the chance to meet you in person many times, your love, support and prayers will always be remembered. My mama, your daughter, is the best mum I could have asked for; she often doesn’t allow Sameer and I to do work, explaining that you would do the same for her. I am so grateful for the relationship I have with my mama, which I’m sure would not be here without the care and love you showed in the mother-daughter relationship you had with her.

The moment that you died my heart was torn in two, one side filled with heartache, the other died with you.
I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks.
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday, but missing you is heartache that never goes away.

Q: What 3 words best describe Najma and why?
A: Excellent cook, organized, knowledgeable.
Najma khala had a distinct flavor in her cooking,, something that I found similar in the households of my Nanhial and I craved it all year long. No matter what she cooked, the house smelled so clean. Nothing was out of place.
She also loved to talk and her conversations had substance in it. I did not know that she had two Masters, but now I know that her education and her love of reading had enriched her so much. No wonder she had so much weight in her point of view!!
Najma khala had a full life. Marriage, education, career, family life. It was not without challenges, but that did not stop her from smiling or writing her beautiful poetry. There are not a lot women of her era who can write poetry.
Although, she is not with us, but she is leaving four handsome children, who are also living their life to the fullest. I pray that Allah Taala will keep our pious khala close to his favorite people in Jannat. Ameen.
