I am extremely saddened to hear of Rana Iqbal sahib's demise. It came to me as a shock through a text message from a friend. I do not know if he had any illness or it was sudden.
I came to know of him about 9 or 10 years ago when he was working in finance Dept. After I read the book he had published about his late father then I came to know of him more. He used to come to my office in Peace Plaza and to my home also occasionally for simple chit chat over tea and discuss many things, private and public. When he wanted to publish the second volume on his father and was looking for some donors I offered to help him and paid him in advance for 100 copies. I allowed him to distribute the book to who so ever he wanted for free.
Rana sahib was a gentle soul and a good, brave and dedicated person. We will miss him. He has departed so early. My condolence to all his family. May Allah grant him forgiveness and acceptance in his promised paradise. I pray to God for Rana Iqbal sahib's forgiveness in Maulana Naseem Saifi's sahib's beautiful couplet
تیرے حضور کسے جرءات ثواب وگناہ
مراحساب نہ لے مجھ کو شرمسار نہ کر
