Obituary of Syed Shahid Ahmed

We are sad to announce the demise of Respected Dr. Syed Muhammad Shahid Ahmed Sahib of Mississauga Jamā‘at – Halqa Mississauga South, who passed away on February 23, 2024 at the age of 93 years.

Respected Dr. Syed Mohammed Shahid Ahmed Sahib was a devout Ahmadi Muslim and a pious soul. He was the son of Respected Dr. Shah Mohammed Rashiduddin Sahib and Hadrat Syeda Maimoona Khatoon Sahiba (ra), who was a companion of the Promised Messiah (as). Both his paternal grandparents Hadrat Syed Eradat Hussein Sahib (ra) and Hadrat Rau-un-Nisa Sahiba (ra) were companions of the Promised Messiah (as). All of three companions did their Bai‘at in January of 1903.

Respected Dr. Sahib was a pioneer member of the Jamā‘at and led a life of devotion and service. Dr. Ahmad was a devoted husband and father who instilled in his children the value of faith and education. He had the opportunity to serve as President of Sudbury Jama`at for more than two decades. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to serving the less fortunate and was deeply involved in advancing education within the Muslim community worldwide through the United Nations Organization. Respected Dr. Sahib donated his library of books to the Peshawar, Islamabd and Karachi universities to further the advancement of education in Pakistan. He also had the honour to lay one of the foundation stones of the Baitul Islam Mosque.
