I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Rafat Appa
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعون.
She was like a sister to me, may Allah grant her the highest status in Jannat-ul-Firdous. I have very fond memories of her. During my visits to Toronto for Shurra, I had a wonderful opportunity to spend time with her. She provided great guidance in many aspects of life. She always looked after me.
Since I got the news, I can’t stop thinking about her and I miss her. I’ve always looked at her with a lot of love and affection. I often thought of her, she was so talented, dedicated and loving and she had a great deal of knowledge and wisdom. She has helped many people in many different ways. I will never forget her, and I will always remember Rafat Appa and her family in my prayers.

Auntie Hashmi was a force of love and kindness. My earliest memories of her are greeting us with a smile at the mosque. She was a beautiful soul who was sincere and genuine. And her love for the jammat was evident in every task she was assigned from working in the ziyafat department at the annual jasla salana, managing the stall at the meena bazar to serving the jammat as the sadar for the Mississauga Jammat. She did every task with a smile and nothing was too small for her to take on. From having known her for over 30 years, she was the happiest taking on the role of a grandmother. From all the interactions that I saw, she doted on her grandkids and enjoyed their company. May Allah bless her with jannat ul firdous and give sabr to her loved ones.

So sorry to hear such sad news, she will be missed very much, she has left us with such beautiful memories, some one who was always there when you went to the Mosque, she participated in everything, she had lot of knowledge and was always there to teach others, lot of our children and us ladies benefited of her knowledge.
She was God fearing and had to have had lots of love for her Lord, for she had sacrificed her life for her love for the Jamaat .
May Allah receive her with love and mercy, and forgive all her shortcomings and except all her good deeds. May Allah open the doors of highest of his seven heavens.

Dearest Aunty Hashmi, returned to the one whom she loved the most - Allah. Her every action that I witnessed was always in service to jama'at she always rolled up her sleeves to get the job done. She prioritized her Allah no matter what, even if we were working on a huge Jamaat project or function, she made sure she was offering her prayers in a timely manner, nothing came before that. When I moved to Mississauga North in 2009, within a couple weeks she contacted me to become Gen Secretary, a role which I was not experienced in and completely overwhelmed by. I didn't really know anyone and felt out of place. It was Aunty Hashmi, Sadr at the time, who took me under her wing like a daughter. She introduced me in a very flattering light to to the warm and dedicated members of North who are still to this day like my second family. She trained me in a very humble and effective way. I learnt leadership skills from her that I didn't even realize at the time. She supported me in some very tough times and always reminded me that Allah is present and sees all that we cannot see. She will always be remembered as a mother figure and mentor. I genuinely loved talking with her and just being around her. May Allah grant her a lofty space in Jannatul firdos and give her family the patience to bare this huge loss. Ameen.
Love n prayers always, Hiba Shah

Nanima was the kindest, most passionate and driven person I have ever had the honour of knowing. She dedicated her life to the jamat and always reminded us that the jamat is our family. She extended her knowledge and wisdom to everyone, and never berated or judged for not knowing. She was the ultimate teacher and mentor. She will be so missed by her family, and ultimately the jamat in whole.
