Asghar Hussain Khan was a man of few words but whatever he said and whenever he said was always well thought out. I met him in 1973 when he an employee of Toronto city hall. He had a coveted job. His glass sitting on the tip of his nose is how one recognize him. Simple yet elegant. It’s been a long time since I met his brother Khalid Khan. May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.

Life without Asghar Khan is difficult to fathom for the generation of early arrivals in Canada, He touched lives of many in their struggles to pick up threads of new life. He was a man of few words, soft spoken and a patient listener. His demeanor of reading glasses delicately resting on the tip of his nose assured any one of his maturity, sincerity and civility. In his dealings he was an epitome of total integrity ---a reflection of his honorable long professional service. He was admired and commanded great respect from his colleagues and those to whom he was responsible to in performance of his and highly responsible job with public money and political overtones. Soon after my arrival 43 years ago his kindness led to a long association and family friendship. Lately our old age and distance placed a barrier in our interaction. I treasure his "Good wishes beautiful cards" on occasions. For years I was a member of Toronto Historical board which appointment I owed to his suggestion / recommendation to Brig McGuiness the president (without any hint to me). He was kind and caring. He was self disciplined and meticulous in his personal life. A visit to his hobby home with every tool hung against an outline of the tool is a testimony to his organizational acumen. He had a beautiful and contented life with his loving family.
Emergence of his well brought up, with balanced professional education and aesthetically groomed sons is tribute to his persona.
