Najiya was the paternal great granddaughter of Dr Fazal Din Ahmedi, a veterinary doctor and one of the first Ahmadi Muslims in Africa. Dr Fazal Din Sahib was a Sahabi of the Promised Messiah (as) and along with his brother Dr Ahmad Din Sahib was one of the first people to bring Ahmadiyyat to Uganda and Zanzibar in 1914. The first missions in those countries were established later in the 1930s. They added Ahmedi to their names in order to propagate and spread the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat in Africa. His wife Haleema Begum was also a Sahabiya of the Promised Messiah (as). When she passed away in Zanzibar the Non- Ahmadi community opposed her burial in the Muslim cemetery and Dr Sahib acquired a separate piece of land to bury her which is still being used as a burial ground. To this day many people, Non Ahmadi and Non Muslim alike visit her grave, as they believe prayers offered there are always answered. Dr Sahib and his wife are still remembered by the locals as the ones who taught the Holy Quran to many local people.  Many of their children and extended family moved to the United Kingdom in the 1960s and continue to serve the Jama’at in various capacities.

Her maternal grandfather (Late) Mohtram Rana Mubarak Ahmed Sahib Sdar Halqa Alama Iqbal Town, Lahore Pakistan and after retierment he dedicated his life in Service of Jama’at (Waqfe Zindgi) and was appointed as Alfazal news paper represenative, till his demise. Najiya Sahiba  was very active member of Jama’at Canada.

May Allah grant Maghfirat to the deceased and elevate her spiritual status in the heaven Amen!  May Allah also shower His mercy upon the grieved families and give them solace and fortitude and enable them to bear this loss with patience, Amen!
