Obituary of Anees Shahnaz

We are sad to announce the demise of Respected Anees Shahnaz Sahiba, wife of (late) Sheikh Habib-ur-Rehman Sahib,  of Mississauga Jamā‘at – Halqa Mississauga East, who passed away on April 16, 2026 at the age of 80 years.

Respected Anees Shahnaz Sahiba was a Mūṣīya who dedicated her life to the service of Jamaat. She had the honor of helping compile the first editions of Lajna history alongside Syeda Maryum Sadiqa (Choti Appa) Sahiba and personally wrote the first three editions. After marriage, she served as Lajna Office Secretary at Darul Zikr, Lahore for nearly sixteen years, and served for many years as Sadr Lajna at local and regional levels. She also served as In-charge Tarjamat-ul-Qur’an Class in Zila Lahore, teaching the Holy Qur’an with correct pronunciation and translation, along with books of the Promised Messiah (as). She later served as Zila Lahore Khidmat-e-Khalq Secretary and remained active in Tabligh, which resulted in many Bai‘ats. She was regular in the five daily prayers and Tahajjud, had deep love for the Holy Qur’an, especially in Ramadhan, and was paid great importance in paying her Chanda Wasiyyat.

 

May Allah grant Maghfirat to the deceased and elevate her spiritual status in the heaven! Amen!  May Allah also shower His mercy upon the grieved families and give them solace and fortitude and enable them to bear this loss with patience! Amen!
