Obituary of Shamshad Begum

We are sad to announce the demise of Respected Shamshad Begum, wife of (late) Respected Latif Ahmed Athwal Sahib, of Brampton West Jamā‘at – Halqa Heartlake, who passed away on February 23, 2026, 5th of Ramadan at the age of 73 years.

She was a devoted and sincere member of the Jama’at, a Musia who remained deeply attached to Khilafat and the Jama’at throughout her life. She was regular in offering Tahajjud prayers and remained steadfast in her faith, embodying humility, sacrifice, and devotion in her daily life.

Her late husband was also a Musi and a dedicated servant of the Jama’at. In 1985, during the period when members of the Jama’at were imprisoned as Aseerān-e-Maula, he was entrusted with the responsibility of supporting them during that difficult time. With great care and dedication, he regularly visited them, coordinated meetings with legal counsel, and ensured that their food and other essential needs were properly arranged.

He also served the Jama’at for many years as Secretary Maal and later as Ameer Jamaat of Muhammad-abad State, Zila Umer Kot, Sindh, Pakistan.

Together, they lived lives devoted to faith, service, and loyalty to the Jama’at.
