Obituary of Surriya Shaheen Akhtar

We are sad to announce the demise of Respected Surriya Shaheen Akhtar Sahiba, wife of Respected Munawar Ahmad Sidhu Sahib of Toronto West Jamā‘at – Halqa Weston Islington, who passed away on July 26, 2025 at the age of 59 years.

Respected Surriya Shaheen Akhtar was a devout Mūṣiya. She was regular in offering the five daily prayers and was blessed with the habit of waking for Tahajjud. By the grace of Allah the Almighty, she served with great dedication in the Bahawalpur Jamā‘at (Pakistan), holding responsibilities such as Ṣadr Halqa and Nigrān Halqajaat. Through these roles, she rendered tireless service to her community. A passionate teacher of the Holy Qur’ān, she taught numerous young girls how to read the Qur’ān with proper recitation. Her deep and unwavering attachment to Khilafat was a defining feature of her life. She consistently passed on this devotion to her children and to the women of her local Jamā‘at, encouraging spiritual growth and loyalty to the institution of Khilafat. She participated actively in all forms of financial sacrifice and remained fully engaged in the charitable initiatives of Humanity First, generously giving of both her time and resources.

 

May Allah grant Maghfirat to the deceased and elevate her spiritual status in the heaven! Amen!  May Allah also shower His mercy upon the grieved families and give them solace and fortitude and enable them to bear this loss with patience! Amen!
